Kingston UV400 comes in a very simple design. Comes with a bit bigger size to the previous version Kingston A400 which is 2.5 inches and thickness start from 7mm to 9mm, it is design with a simple grey color with a big Kingston logo in the middle and a small sticker. There are two packaging for this Kingston UV400 for sold. The single one and the bundle kit one.

The single one is sold with the SSD chip only. Meanwhile, the bundle kit is sold with SSD chip accompanied by some accessories such as enclosure, adapter, SATA cable and Acronis data Migration software voucher.  This was also designed with shock resistant ability, believed that Kingston UV400 will built-up last.

  • Capacities

Kingston UV400 series provide in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB and 960GB. More space capacities, compare to the previous version Kingston A400 which provides capacity until 480GB. In case of performance, it is rated up to 540 Mbps for read speed and 500Mbps for write speed for the biggest capacity of this version which is 960GB. The same read speed as the previous version Kingston A400. 

  • Specification and Features

Unlike the other type of SSD chip, especially the previous version Kingston A400. This Kingston UV400 which is using controllers Marvell 88SS1074 and TLC Nand. Kingston claims this series is believed 10 times faster than 7200 Rpm hard drive. The Acronis data migration software which is supported in this Kingston UV400 makes this SSD could move the data from the old drive to the new drive faster than the previous one. 

  • Performance

Some users have done some test about it. Testing Kingston UV400 in type 480Gb using Crystal Disk Mark, analyze the data from the test, admit that Kingston UV400 is unfortunately a bit slower than what Kingston has claimed. As we have discussed above that the read speed is 540 Mbps, but the analyzer says that it could only reach 500Mbps.

But the good news is the data analyzer catches that the write speed from this Kingston UV400 is more than what Kingston itself has claimed. That is 500Mbps, exactly the same as what Kingston claims. This point is a bit disappointed. Unlike the previous version who like to go beyond the claim, this version did not do the same. 

  • Price

The lowest capacity, that is 120GB cost around $30.00 to $40.00 for shipping online, or even lower bargain in different online store. The range of its price looks similar for both Kingston A400 and Kingston UV400. The differences are just the price of 960GB in this version, which is $125.00. and the bundle kit which sold in almost the double price from the single price. So, the range is around $60.00 to $ 250.00. This is still worth enough as people known that Kingston is one of the cheapest prices compare to the other brand, even to the Kingston itself.

Both are coming from the similar price. Meanwhile the speed of them looks similar too. There are not too many differences of these two type SSD chip, Kingston A400 and Kingston UV400. Seeing from the speed claims from these two versions, and the performance of these that has been tested by some consumers, Kingston A400 looks more promising and valuable.
