In power efficiency QVO is also not efficient compared to Blue 3D NAND.

As for mixed random performance, this method uses mixes from pure reads to pure writes at 10% increments and each of these mixes is tested for up to 1 minute or 32 GB of data transferred with a queue depth of 4 and limited to a 64 GB span of the drive. In this part even when compared to the 860 EVO, this Samsung QLC is still behind but is on par with Blue 3D NAND. In power efficiency while the gap is not as huge as in previous testing, TLC-based WD still wins in this category.

To mimic the real world application of these drives, the last testing we want to mention here is using The Destroyer by AnandTech because it is capable of replicating the access patterns of very IO-sensitive desktop usage and it will also insert occasional break to provide room for some background garbage collection and flushing caches but, it doesn’t run the real application. In this part the result is also not consistent to the previous two above as the 860 QVO handles the testing slightly better compared to 3D NAND of WD.

On the latency however, the result is leaning on the same side as the previous testing because in this part both average read and write latency is higher in Samsung 860 QVO and this drive is also slightly worse than DRAMless TLC SSD while the 3D NAND is almost at the same level to Samsung’s 850 Pro and still ahead of its similar SATA models.
